UNISMA’s 39th Anniversary: Postgraduate Program Holds Online Qur’an Completion Recitation Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 outbreak declared a national and global disaster has fundamentally altered nearly every aspect of public activity and mobility. This reality also affected the series of program that had been carefully planned to commemorate UNISMA’s 39th Anniversary (Dies Natalis). Several events were unavoidably cancelled; yet this did not extinguish the spirit of the university’s academic community, who remained steadfast in their gratitude as their beloved institution marked another year of its journey.

This was demonstrated through an online Qur’an completion recitation (Khatmil Qur’an) held by the lecturers and staff of UNISMA’s Postgraduate Program on Friday, 27 March 2020, as part of the Dies Natalis commemoration. The Khatmil Qur’an was conducted by distributing individual portions (juz) among participants via WhatsApp, and was concluded with a collective recitation of the closing supplication.

The Dies Natalis activity was dedicated to seeking God’s ease and blessing upon the institution as it continues to fulfil its responsibilities as a higher education provider. Through the Khatmil Qur’an, prayers were offered so that UNISMA’s entire academic community be granted blessings of longevity, knowledge, and sustenance; that they be kept safe from the COVID-19 pandemic; and that this affliction be swiftly lifted from God’s earth. Amin. (NAD/AL/PPS)
