The Closed Doctoral Examination of Multicultural Islamic Religious Education (PAI Multikultural) Program saw three candidates defend their dissertations on Friday, 13 March 2020, in the examination chamber on the 3rd floor of Ali Bin Abi Thalib Building. The three candidates examined were Saepuddin Mashuri, Mufiqur Rahman, and Sugiyar.
Saepuddin Mashuri opened the day’s proceedings at 07:30 WIB. The examination was chaired by the Head of the Panel, who also serves as Director of the Postgraduate Program, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, MM., Ph.D., assisted by Secretary and concurrent Promotor, Prof. Dr. H. Djunaidi Ghony, MA. His dissertation, titled “Multicultural Islamic Religious Education in Post-Conflict Regions: A Multi-Site Study of Multicultural Integration in Islamic Religious Education Learning at SMKN 1 and SMAN 3 Poso, Central Sulawesi,” was co-supervised by Dr. H. Hasan Busri, M.Pd., as Co-Promotor.
Saepuddin Mashuri’s dissertation was examined by Prof. Dr. H. Imam Suprayogo, a senior professor at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang (UIN Maliki), with Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si. serving as Examiner 2, and Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Sumbulah, M.Ag. as Examiner 3.
Mufiqur Rahman was scheduled for the mid-session slot at 09:40 WIB. The examination was likewise chaired by Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, MM., Ph.D., with the Secretary also serving concurrently as Promotor. Mufiqur Rahman’s dissertation is titled “Equality in Mu’adalah Islamic Boarding School Education: A Multi-Site Study at Tarbiyah Mu’allimin Al-Islamiyah (TMI) Al-Amien and Dirasah Al-Mu’allimin Al-Islamiyah (DMI) Al-Hamidy Banyuanyar.” His dissertation panel comprised Prof. Dr. H. Imam Suprayogo, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si., Prof. Hj. Umi Sumbulah, and Dr. H. Hasan Busri, M.Pd., the latter serving concurrently as Co-Promotor.

The final session was held after the Dhuhr prayer at 13:40 WIB. The candidate examined, Sugiyar, presented a dissertation titled “Multicultural Dimensions in Islamic Religious Education at State Vocational High School 1 Geger Madiun and Al-Islam Joresan Vocational High School, Probolinggo.”
This concluding examination was also chaired by the Postgraduate Director and the Head of the Doctoral Program in Multicultural PAI. Sugiyar’s Promotor was Prof. Dr. Djunaidi Ghony, with Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si. serving as Co-Promotor. The dissertation was examined by Prof. Imam Suprayogo and Prof. H. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D., with the panel further joined by a distinguished professor from Universitas Negeri Malang, Prof. Dr. Imron Arifin, M.Pd. (AL/PPS)
