Postgraduate Program at Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) signed a Letter of Agreement (LOA) with Mahasaraswati University (UNMAS) in Denpasar. The event, which took place on Thursday, February 23, 2020, began at 9:30 a.m. This event was merged with a seminar themed “Challenges in Developing Postgraduate Education in the 4.0 Era,” attended by UNMAS postgraduate faculty and students.
Also in attendance were UNMAS Denpasar officials, including First Vice Rector Dr. I Wayan Gede Wiryawan, SH., M.H., Second Vice Rector Dr. Nengah Landra, SE, MM, and Director of Postgraduate Programs Dr. Ir. I Ketut Sumantra, M.P. This signing ceremony was held in UNMAS Meeting Room and also attended by Professors, Deans of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) and Faculty of Law (FH), as well as the Head of UNMAS Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM).
UNMAS Director of Postgraduate Programs Ketut Sumantra stated that collaborative activities are frequently conducted, but they are continuously being enhanced and packaged with more innovative initiatives. The existence of nine criteria within the Quality Assurance System makes the workload for higher education institutions more demanding. Hence, even small-scale activities must be creatively structured to maximize outcomes (output).
The Director of UNISMA Postgraduate Program, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, MM., Ph.D., expressed his gratitude for the warm and extraordinary welcome. A Flinders University alumnus appreciated that Bali is recognized worldwide for its culture. Culture as a form of “distinctiveness” can be one of the pillars for developing postgraduate programs in the face of Industry 4.0.
Distinctiveness and unique specializations can attract prospective students, in addition to providing fast and accurate service. This former special assistant to the president for regional autonomy also emphasized the importance of developing online publications through a website, as in today’s era all information must be accessible via the internet.
Director of Postgraduate Program stated that UNISMA delegation’s visit aimed to learn about academic structures and seek advice on developing international networks. Currently, Bali is known for its strong international network, which can serve as a model for UNISMA.
The opening ceremony ended with LOA signing between the Directors of UNMAS and UNISMA Postgraduate Programs. An atmosphere of optimism for mutual cooperation grew stronger as both parties exchanged commemorative souvenirs. (AL/PPS)
