There are at least six reasons why you should study at Unisma’s Postgraduate Program.
1. Luxury Building, Top-Notch Facilities
Once you enter Unisma on MT Haryono Street in Malang, you’ll be amazed by the magnificent buildings. You’ll notice one particularly striking building on the west. That’s the prestigious Unisma Postgraduate Building.
Unisma’s Postgraduate building has a total of seven floors. Interestingly, the building is entirely used for postgraduate studies. “It is very rare for a postgraduate campus to have such a grand building,” said Unisma’s Director of Postgraduate Programs, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, MM, PhD.
Besides the towering building, the interior is incredibly comfortable. Almost every room is equipped with air conditioning (AC). Not only that, but there are also elevators that make it easy to access every floor on campus. At Unisma’s Postgraduate Program, there are well-equipped computer labs and language labs. There are also micro-teaching rooms and academic counseling rooms.
Furthermore, there is an auditorium on the seventh floor equipped with facilities comparable to those of a four-star hotel. “Our auditorium can accommodate approximately 250 students,” added the man who also serves as Chairman of the Regional Executive Board of the Nahdlatul Ulama Scholars Association (ISNU) in East Java. Even more special is that during Unisma Postgraduate building’s construction, the groundbreaking ceremony was performed by Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Jusuf Kalla. “May Unisma continue to grow with the addition of buildings and facilities. This will help create competent human resources, including in the field of entrepreneurship,” said Vice President Jusuf Kalla during the groundbreaking ceremony back in 2015. In addition to JK, President Joko Widodo and a number of ministers have visited this campus, the pride of Nahdlatul Ulama’ (NU).
2. A One-Stop Library Integrated with Academic Complex
The comfortable learning environment at Unisma’s Postgraduate Program is further enhanced by its integrated library, located in the same building. As a result, visitors to the Postgraduate Program’s library experience a distinct sense of exclusivity. In addition to the central library, there is also a dedicated library for Postgraduate Program.
This postgraduate library is also integrated with an online system. Thus, Unisma’s postgraduate program further solidifies its position as a campus meeting national and international standards.
One of the initiatives implemented is that, although learning takes place offline, course reference materials are provided both offline and online. “We also have a strong Information Technology (IT) team to support the academic programs,” he added.
3. Comprehensive Programs
There are many study programs (prodi) in Postgraduate Program. For the master’s degree (S2), there are nine study programs: Islamic Education, Islamic Law, Law, English Language Education, Indonesian Language Education, Management, Public Administration, Animal Husbandry, and Notary. Meanwhile, for the doctoral program (S3), there is Multicultural Islamic Education (PAI). Furthermore, there is also Multicultural Islamic Education Doctoral Program Scholarship; this program is a collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia’s (RI) Directorate General of Higher Education (Diktis) “5,000 Doctoral Scholars” program for the year 2019.
4. Recognition from BAN PT
One indicator of Unisma’s postgraduate success is the recognition from National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN PT). “BAN PT has stated that the study programs at Unisma’s Postgraduate Program have been accredited,” said Mas’ud Said, who holds a PhD in Public Administration from the School of Political and International Studies at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, through an AusAid scholarship.
5. Recognition from the Government
Recognition by the government takes the form of placing government scholarship students in the Islamic Law Program starting in the 2010/2011 academic year and in Islamic Education Program starting in the 2011/2012 academic year and continuing to the present. This recognition demonstrates that Unisma’s postgraduate program has become one of the government’s key institutions in producing high-quality graduates. “When the Minister of Research and Technology (Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasir, Ph.D.) visited Unisma, he agreed that Unisma is a leading university in Indonesia,” said Prof. Mas’ud.
6. Recognition from the Community
Recognition by the community is marked by an increase in student enrollment and acceptance rates across all programs at Unisma. Currently, Unisma’s graduate program hopes to further earn the public’s trust under its new management. “With the current new management, we are more professional and modern,” said the man who previously served as a special staff member to the Minister of Social Affairs.
